Gemixte reacties op nieuwe Instagram-post Meghan en Harry

Met 11,3 miljoen volgers zijn ze nog altijd 'hot', maar er wordt de laatste tijd minder vaak iets geplaatst op het account. Nu is er een nieuwe post. En gaan er meer volgen, zo meldt het paar...

Het is een tegeltje met een symbolische uitspraak. Samengevat staat in een lange tekst die erbij is geplaatst dat iedereen elkaar nu, meer dan ooit, nodig heeft. En dat de twee onder de indruk zijn van iedereen die zich – zichtbaar en minder zichtbaar – inzet in deze tijden van Corona.

De boodschap wordt afgesloten met de zin ‘We look forward to sharing more over the days and weeks to come…’ Oftewel: ‘We kijken ernaar uit de komende dagen en weken meer met jullie te delen..’

Hiermee doelt het stel op achtergrondverhalen, meningen van experts en adviezen omtrent Corona die ze zullen gaan plaatsen op het Sussex Royal-account.

Onder de post is te lezen dat de reacties erg wisselend zijn van toon. Velen beschuldigen Meghan en Harry nog steeds van het ‘lekker veilig terugtrekken in een beschermde omgeving’ terwijl koningin Elizabeth wel hard aan het werk is. Of ze geven aan dat ze niet zitten te wachten op informatie via Meghan en Harry. En anderen nemen het juist voor ze op. Bijvoorbeeld door te vragen of alle negatieve reacties niet kunnen worden gefilterd en verwijderd.

We are all in this together, and as a global community we can support each other through this process – and build a digital neighbourhood that feels safe for every one of us.
